Considering how rude social media has allowed the average person to become, the occasional celebrity clapback can be entertaining and humorous. Emphasis on occasional.
When it becomes a daily occurrence that seems to take up most of the time of someone who should be working (making music, reading scripts, rehearsing for a show, working out) or living their lives (parenting, eating, shopping, going on dates, spending time with their partner etc), it just becomes sad.
And that seems to be the point that Ntando Duma (and a few other celebrities are at). So much so, in fact, that when a Twitter user pointed it out, Duma did exactly what she was being accused of doing and responded to a tweet she was never even tagged in.

And that tweet isn’t even the only one. Duma’s timeline is filled with clap backs to random negative tweets about her that mention only her name, without actually tagging her account.

People are going to talk about you, whether you’re famous or not. It’s either you give them something to talk about or just mize and keep it moving.
