Penny Lebyane Turns Up The Heat

There was a time when Penny Lebyane was South Africa’s IT girl and since then, the media personality has managed to successfully work throughout the years proving the staying power of talent.

When Penny is not breaking the internet with sexy snaps, she is using her voice to highlight important issues.

In an in-depth interview with Anele Mdoda, she spoke about a time when she experienced sexism on Metro FM as a young broadcaster.

She says that although she did not know how to label the things that were happening to her at the time, she can now look back and see that it was sexism, “I had no idea what sexism, marginalisation and all of those things meant, but I experienced all of those things without the context of knowing what they were. I only realised in hindsight what those things were.”

The star then went on to explain that even though she was qualified, she would not get prime spots because she was a woman and the shows would always be given to her male colleagues.
