The Makhado Family has released a statement confirming the passing of the award-winning Rapper Riky Rick whose real name is Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado.
The statement confirms that Riky Rick passed on in the early hours of today, 23 February 2022.
He leaves behind his wife, two children, five siblings, and his mother. The family has requested privacy during this time and also announced that a spokesperson has not yet been appointed.
"He was deeply loved by his family, friend, and the entire entertainment industry. His love for family, friends, and community is well known. Riky's nurturing and developing of young musical talent is well documented and will forever be remembered," the family said in a statement also sharing that the funeral and memorial details will be shared at a later stage.
According to Sunday World, Riky Rick allegedly committed suicide at his estate home in the north of Joburg.
The publication claims that a source revealed that the 34-year-old's management found him still alive in his home around 8 AM today and rushed him to the hospital, but he died on the way to the hospital.
Mzansi celebrities have since paid tribute to the legendary musician. Taking to Instagram YouTuber and Actress Mihlali Ndamase thanked him for everything he has done for the culture.
She wrote: "I'm so sorry 💔💔You did so much for the culture, for the youth! Thank you for being so kind, always supporting other artists, and creating opportunities for the young kids you inspire. The fact that I'll never hear you say "Hlali" again breaks my heart. Rest easy bro, keep shining."

Businesswoman and actress Connie Ferguson extended her prayers to Riky's Family. She wrote, "Praying for your soul and your family Ricky Rick.🙏🏾 Rest in power KING!👑 Father God please hug the family and give them the strength to face this nightmare, comfort them and let them know that you have not forsaken them.🙏🏾 PLEASE GOD!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 #ripricky🙏🏾🕯🕊🤍."
Amapiano star Lady Du said she is still in disbelief. Sharing a video of Riky speaking at the late Mpura'sfuneral she wrote, "@rikyrickworld 😭😭😭😭 I’m listening to this over and over again. I’m waiting for someone to tell me it’s a prank. We spoke on the phone yesterday you said I should be strong bro 😭😭😭 Njani manje Njani 💔💔💔 God receive my brother with open arms!!!!! We need you now more than ever!!!!"
