SK Khoza Biography: Who Exactly Is Shaka From The Queen

SK Khoza is a South African born actor with a knack for great acts on-screen and good life off-screen. He started his career off as a presenter and he eventually jumped into acting and he is known for his remarkable acting on The Queen.

He is widely recognized for the splendid work on the shows Goal Diggerz, Mzansi Rides and as Shaka from “The Queen”.

Here is how SK climbed up the ladder of entertainment in South Africa.

SK Khoza Age

SK was born on the 1st of July in 1986. He is 36-years-old.

SK Khoza Early Life

SK is born to Zulu parents, Lindiwe and Stan Khoza, in KwaZulu Natal. He was named Sthembiso Khoza.

Growing up, SK was involved in different extramural activities such as soccer, rugby, and cricket, which he was also part of his father’s karate lessons.

Sk’s father – Stan Khoza, is the former national President of Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union. He formed the Amandla Esizwe Karate Dojo in Kwa Mashu. Mr Khoza has produced 95 black belt karatekas from previously disadvantaged communities.

Seeing his father work hard, SK took it upon himself to be good at what he does as well.

SK has two siblings and he is the eldest brother. He grew up with his siblings, Abdul Khoza and their sister, Natasha Thahane.

The two brothers were fans of Jean Claude Van Damme movies as they would imitate his moves during their karate classes. Abdul won his black belt before he was 13 years of age and worked as a firefighter before being pulled into entertainment by SK.

SK Khoza Education

SK did his formal education in KwaZulu-Natal. He studied at Parkhill High School where he completed his secondary studies.

He obtained his Sports Management Degree from the University of Johannesburg.

SK Khoza Relationship

It was rumoured that SK broke up and divorced with his wife, whose identity has never been revealed.

Sthembiso is a father to two cute daughters and a son. His older daughter’s name is Ayanda; whom he had with his first wife; and his younger daughter’s name is Lelo. He also has a son with Lee-Anne Makopo who is Lelo’s mother.

SK is now in a relationship with the actress, Pabee Moganed. He shared a heartfelt Instagram post to his girlfriend expressing his love for her.

“The way you look at me, makes me feel like I’m the only person in the world. With you, I can be myself.”

Explaining his relationship with Pabee, he spoke about the chemistry that they have and their element of friendship that they share.

“I love that we are also friends at the same time. When we’re together, all my problems disappear. You make my heart smile.”

SK and his girlfriend have been in a relationship for over a year. In explaining his experiences and they are each others support system. Through that year of their relationship, Sk believes that they encourage one another to work hard.

“You know me better than I know myself. You’re always there for me, no matter what. You let me be myself and you encourage me to find more of myself. You are truthful and vulnerable to me.”

SK Khoza Career

SK is a hard-working media personality who has worked and grew his brand overtime as a host, presenter and an actor.

He is one of the loved actors on The Queen and his fans continuously show support to him through all times.

Presenting

Before he was in mainstream media, he worked for Trans Africa radio, as an MC and a voice-over.

SK started his hosting journey with Channel O family as a host of Mzansi Rides.
After he left Channel O he went and worked for Vuzu’s V- Entertainment.

SK was then established as an actor and a presenter. In 2014, he was a host of the Mzansi Wethu dance show and he returned in 2014 to host season 2.

Acting

SK had his debut appearance as an actor in the Mzansi Magic telenovela iNkaba, as DJ Teeman.

During an interview with TshisaLIVE, SK revealed how he actually got into acting.

“How I got into acting is a funny story actually. I was going to Three Talk with Noeleen for an interview with Bonang. When I was at reception Portia Gumede, who was the writer of the first telenovela in SA done by Urban Brew, called Inkaba, found me at reception and asked me whether I was coming to audition for the character called DJ T-Man and I said no.”

“She asked me if I had time and I said yes. I did a screen test, I had never acted before but I got the job on the spot. Initially it was three calls but as the show carried on … I guess I did great enough for my character to have ended up being a part of the story right until the end.”

He landed a role on The Queen which is a telenovela where he became well-known as an actor. In The Queen, SK starred as Shaka, Khoza a very delinquent character.

The Queen is about the Khoza family and drug tycoons who hide their dealings behind their logistics company. The show is starring Pabee Moganedi as Mamiki the Queen, a devious backstabber, and Sthembiso Khoza as Shaka.

SK has landed yet another acting gig on Housekeepers.

SK Khoza Brand Endorsements

Taking to his Instagram, SK shared the news and revealed that he’s become an official brand ambassador for Dickies, which is a brand that he grew up being a fan of.

He recalled the moments he had in high school where Dickies were everyone’s favourite.

“When others wore normal grey school pants, I used to wear @dickiesafrica@dickiesofficial in high school,” he wrote.

“Today I am so happy to finally announce that I am now their brand ambassador. #NewBeginnings #Endorsement“

SK Khoza Controversy

A warrant of arrest was issued for the actor in 2018 by the Johannesburg Family Court.

This came after SK had failed to appear in court on charges that he had failed to pay maintenance to his baby mama for six months. National Prosecuting Authority south Gauteng spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that there was an arresting warrant for SK.

“I can confirm that a warrant for his arrest was issued on May 24 for failing to attend a maintenance hearing in court,” Mjonondwane said.

Apparently, SK told his baby mama that he was not able to pay maintenance because The Queen producers were not paying him and he was buried in debt.

SK was once fired from The Queen and this caused outrage from his fans. At the time of his exit, The Fergusons were scrutinized for allegedly exploiting their actors.

Speculations surrounding the real reason for his departure from the beloved Telenovela centered around his alleged dramatic private life and diva tendencies.

Many thought SK was part of the group of actors to bash the production company after being unfairly dismissed, however, he was said to be still working with the production house on another drama series called Kings Of Joburg.

Fans did not take kind to the news and they signed a petition that their favourite actor be brought back to the show and subsequently, SK returned to the cast. The head of PR and Publicity for Mzansi Magic, Philly Kubheka broke the news on Twitter and joked that he might return as a ghost.

SK however did not immediately say anything about his return, as fans kept on pestering him for answers, he instead talked about ‘seeing Shona Ferguson on set soon’ for the shooting of Kings Of Joburg.

SK ended up being close friends with Shona, the man who had let him go before from The Queen. However, SK has distanced himself from saying anything about the controversial issues surrounding Ferguson Films as he’s only focused on developing his craft.

In his career, SK has always wanted to be the best version of himself and as he keeps viewers glued to their screens, fans cannot wait to see his next project.
