One cannot deny that Thabooty was made for both radio and TV, which is why her fans were gobsmacked when she did not get a South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) nomination for her exceptional acting as the lead on Mzansi Magic's drama series ''Housekeepers season two.'
When the full list of nominations was released on Wednesday, 28 April (which saw the likes of Rami Chuene, Lorcia Cooper, Katlego Maboe and the late Menzi Ngubane get nods for their respective acting and presenting roles) Thando's fans could not help but notice that the star had been snubbed and they needed to know how this was possible.
Although the Netflix original comedy film she is a part of, titled 'How To Ruin Christmas' bagged 13 nominations and 'HouseKeepers season 2' bagging 3, none of the nominations were specifically for any of the actress' roles.
Reacting to the snub when her fan account asked, she replied with brokenhearted emojis.
More of the star's fans expressed their concern, while others told her to keep her head up because one day she will get the recognition she deserves. Radio and TV personality Khuli Roberts told her fans not to worry because an Oscar is bound to come Thando's way.
Thando's SAFTAs snub was not the only one that audiences could not understand. SABC 1's Skeem Saam viewers were also demanding answers when they noticed that the TV drama did not score a nomination in the 'Best Tv Soap' or 'Best Telenovela' categories.
