King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu came to power in 1968 and ruled the Zulu nation until his untimely death in 2021.
During his lifetime the late King Zwelithini married six wives and together, he had a total of 26 recorded children- 12 daughters and 14 sons, and a son born out of wedlock.
Here is a look at each one of King Zwelithini’s sons in order starting with the sons of his first wife to his youngest wife.
Prince Simakade Zulu
Prince Simakade is the eldest son of the late King Zwelithini who was born out of wedlock. Details about who his biological mother is have not been provided but he was reportedly raised at KwaKhangelamankengane palace in Nongoma.
After King Zwelithini’s death, a faction of AmaZulu royalties fronted Prince Simakade as their favorite pick to succeed his father.

Prince Lethukuthula Zulu
Prince Lethukuthula Zulu was King Zwelithini’s son who was born in 1970 to King Zwelithini’s first wife- Ndlunkulu Sibongile MaDlamini.
He passed away on 6th November 2020 at his home in Graceland residential complex in Northwold, in Johannesburg. Until his untimely death, Prince Lethukuthula had been a businessman.

Prince Nhlanganiso Zulu
Prince Nhlanganiso is King Zwelithini’s son with Queen Buthle. Details about his date of birth and education are currently not available.
The Prince however got married in 2015 to his long-term girlfriend- Wandile Mkhize and together they have three children.
Prince Butho Zulu
The late Prince Butho Zulu was King Zwelithini’s son with Queen Buhle. He passed on in September 2014 following a long battle with an illness.
Prince Buzabazi Zulu
Prince Buzabazi is one of the most prominent of King Zwelithini’s sons who gained publicity after his father’s death.
Although not much is known about him, Prince Buzabazi also joined in the succession politics along with his sisters and the royal faction who claimed that their father’s signature had been forged.
Prince Phumuzuzulu
Named after his great grandfather- King Phumuzuzulu kaDinuzulu who ruled the Zulu nation between 1913 to 1933, Prince Phumuzuzulu is King Zwelithini’s son with his second wife- Ndlunkulu Buhle KaMathe.
Not much is known about Prince Phumuzuzulu, but according to some reports, he is the heir of the Enyokeni Palace.
Prince Shlobosenkosi Zulu
Prince Shlobosenkosi Zulu is Prince Nhlanganiso and Prince Phumuzuzulu’s full brother having been born by Queen Buhle.
Like his older brothers, not much is recorded about him except that he was born in 1988 and that he got his education from Kearsney College in Botha’s Hill, Durban.
King Misuzulu Zulu
King Misuzulu is King Zwelithini’s son who succeeded him. He was born in 1974 and he is the eldest son of the Late King Zwelithini and his Great Wife- Mantfombi Dlamini.
King Misuzulu studied at St. Charles College, Pietermaritzburg and he is married to Ntokozo Mayisela, and together they have two children. It is also reported that King Misuzulu has another child with Wezizwe Sigcau of amaMpondo royalty.
Prince Bambindlovu Makhosezwe Zulu
Prince Bambindlovu Makhosezwe is also King Zwelithini and Queen Mantfombi’s son and like his older brother, he also studied at St. Charles College, Pietermaritzburg.
Prince Bambindlovu is a farmer, an artist and an interior designer. It is not clear if he is currently married.
Prince Lungelo Zulu
Prince Lungelo was born in 1984 to King Zelwithini and Queen Mantfombi. He received his education at Michaelhouse boarding school in KwaZulu-Natal.
Prince Mandlesizwe Zulu
Not much is known about Prince Mandlesizwe other than the fact that he was born in 1990 and that he was born to Queen Mantfombi.
Prince Simangaye Zulu
Prince Simangaye is the youngest son of Queen Mantfombi having been born in 1991. Prince Simangaye is not yet married but he has a son.
He is quite outgoing and his Instagram account is filled with pictures of himself and his family members.
Prince Sihlangu Zulu
Prince Sihlangu is King Zwelithini’s first and only son with his fourth wife- Ndlunkulu Thandi. He is a gifted musician who goes by the name of Zulu Soul.
Prince Nhlangano Zulu
Prince Nhlangano is the son of king Zwelithini with his fifth wife- Ndlunkulu Nompumelelo. Not much is known about this Prince.
Prince Nhlendlayenkosi Zulu
Prince Nhlendlayenkosi is the youngest of King Zwelithini’s sons and he was born to the King’s sixth and youngest wife- Ndlunkulu LaMafu. Not much is also known about this dashing young prince.
