He shared the visit with a post on Instagram and wrote 'Today I visited the @university_of_cape_town and we rocked and had fun with the students prior to their exams! Felt all the love! ❤️Good luck and see you all on the 25th March 2023 at the @dhlstadium (Green Point Stadium) for @abantuthepeopleza #ABANTU #UCT'
The visit forms part of an initiative organized by UCT's Student Representative Council to alleviate students distress from the academic pressure. Students on campus raved about the performance. Unfortunately not everyone made the performance or was on campus. One student wrote '@ZakesBantwiniSA decided to perform on plaza at UCT on the day I DECIDED NOT TO COME'. The South African singer retweeted this and said 'Sorry next year make sure you don't miss out'.

UCT is not the only academic establishment, the singer visited. The day before the Plaza Thursday initiative at UCT, Bantwini visited Bridge House, a private school in Franschhoek. The reason for the visit was to wish the matriculants well at their valediction 🎓
