Tyla is officially bringing her A*POP World Tour back to her home turf. The “Water” hitmaker shared the news with her Tygers on Instagram, confirming a January 2027 run that will stop in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Local promoters Showtime Management and Anything Goes are presenting the South African dates. The shows will close the curtain on Tyla’s first full headline world tour on home ground.
“She’s coming home. Our superstar @tyla is bringing her A*POP World Tour to Cape Town & Joburg this January 2027. Tygers, this one’s for you,” the announcement said, with Cape Town set for 4 January 2027 and Johannesburg scheduled for 9 January 2027.
Where Tyla will perform
- Cape Town: Green Point Track on 4 January 2027
- Johannesburg: Expo Centre in Nasrec on 9 January 2027
- Run follows a Lagos stop in Nigeria
In Cape Town, Tyla will take the stage at Green Point Track before finishing the tour in Johannesburg at the Expo Centre in Nasrec. The South African shows come after a leg that includes Lagos, Nigeria, rounding out a 34-date schedule.
The worldwide trek begins in Paris on 12 October, then rolls through Europe, the UK, and North America before reaching Africa. Tyla’s team is framing the final stretch as a homecoming moment after the international circuit.
Fans are already thinking fashion
Once the dates hit the timeline, Tyla’s followers flooded the comments with excitement. Many fans tagged friends and immediately asked the question everyone seems to be waiting to answer: what they’re going to wear.
How the tour connects to APOP*
The A*POP World Tour is in support of Tyla’s sophomore album, APOP*, released on 24 July. Tyla has described the record as an expansion of what an African pop star can look and sound like.
Speaking on Ebro on Apple Music Radio, she explained the thinking behind the title and message. “APOP, African Pop… I think it’s a very frozen… like, it just feels like we’ve frozen in time with that type of ideology… with APOP, it’s really just that, like, I bring the A to pop,” she said.
She also pushed back on criticism that she’s too blunt or too unfiltered online. Tyla argued that she shouldn’t be expected to soften her personality for public consumption.
“I really am opinionated and blunt… we’re human, guys, relax,” she told Ebro, adding that her team sometimes encourages her to be more guarded. She shared, “They’re like, ‘Tyla, put your phone down, stop making videos, stop talking’… But I don’t know, like, I just think it’s more interesting, you know? … I still want to be a 24-year-old girl, you know? I don’t want being a pop star to stop my life and make me feel like now I’m in jail and I have to let like things slide and all those things…”
APOP* includes the singles Chanel, Fairytale, Is It Love and She Did It Again featuring Zara Larsson, alongside 14 tracks in total.
The tour also represents a milestone for Tyla: it’s her first full headline run covering Europe, North America, the UK, and Africa. It follows her 2025 We Wanna Party tour across Asia.
