Although twerking (both the act and the phrase) have been around for a while now, it seems as though the "trend" vanished as quickly as it became popular - and when it disappeared, it took away all those who were affiliated with it.
Back when twerking was the thing of the moment, America had a lot of famous faces to attribute the trend to Kim K, Tamar Braxton, Lexy Panterra and Miley Cyrus.
In SA, we had the Protwerkers - a group of five young women who caused a frenzy at every party they went to/performed at. The group consisted of Kimberly Kholiwe Nomonde Cindi (now popularly known as Kim Kholiwe), Faith Nketsi (popularly known as Queen Twerk), Refiloe 'Ms Jay' Nketsi, Samantha Malinga and Theresa Malinga.
