Is Simphiwe Dana Gracefully Bowing Out?

Multi-award winning songstress Simphiwe Dana recently sent shock-waves to her legions of fans after she said, she is gracefully bowing out. The musician, whose career has spanned for more than 3 decades will release her new album Bamako, which is set to be her last offering.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, she said: “I’m gracefully bowing out. I’ve given you a stellar album. Watch out for it. I love you.”

But speaking to Tshisalive she said, she is considering to bow out because of the instability of the industry. We all know that the industry is very fickle and it can be hard to sustain a career sometimes, especially during this lock-down period.

Speaking to the publication she said: “I am seriously considering it. It’s just … sometimes finance wise this career is just not sustainable. The instability gives me anxiety because I am a single mother. I’m also the kind of person who puts 120% of myself into everything I do and particularly my music, that means I don’t have as much time to take on other work or diversify. There’s no space to do much else but I am working on a concept that could potentially give me more financial stability,”
