Jackie Phamotse is in a lot of trouble and it could be about to get worse. The controversial author has officially been charged with crimen injuria following comments that she made about Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo last year - and it could get a lot worse.
Jackie has risen to fame as one of Mzansi's most notable authors in recent history thanks to her explosive title, BARE: The Blessers Game which exposed the secret culture of transactional relationships in South Africa. As juicy as the contents of the book were, Jackie appeared to make a big mistake when she brought her sensational style of storytelling to the TL. Do you remember when she tweeted this:

As juicy as the contents of the book were, Jackie appeared to make a big mistake when she brought her sensational style of storytelling to the TL. Do you remember when she tweeted this:
"Just overheard a painful conversation, a female TV mogul pleading with one of my girls to not share videos of her drunk and her husband (sic) rimming a celebrity boy!!!!!!!!! What the hell!!!! Kanti, what kind of marriages do we have now!!! I have asked to see this video,"
Here's the interesting thing about the law in South Africa when it comes to social media. Just because you don't mention the person you're tweeting/talking about, it doesn't mean you can't get in trouble. If enough people can deduce who it is you're alluding to, then that person can still press charges and most likely win a case.
That's exactly what happened when social media users put 2 and 2 together and came up with the answer: Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo. While the existence of such a video has yet to be verified, the power couple were absolutely livid with the suggestion that this could have happened and took swift action against Jackie Phamotse.
ICYMI: Jackie Phamotse's fake crying gig was the worst acting we've seen this year!
Fast forward to May 2019 and it looks like Kumalos are ready to take serious action. Reports have confirmed that Basetsana is on her way to court in July where she will face up to the charges. The Kumalo's lawyers confirmed to Tshisa Live:
“It is absolutely true. She has been charged with crimen injuria and she will be appearing in court on the 10th of July,”
Do you think Jackie Phamotse stands a chance in court?
