Naturally, the case received massive coverage across media lines, especially because of the many intricate elements that make up the story.
Award-winning musician, Kelly Khumalo was listed as one of the prime suspects in the case. Senzo and Kelly shared a controversial relationship, which resulted in a beautiful baby girl, Thingo.
The esteemed goalkeeper was found dead at Kelly's childhood home in the East Rand, after being allegedly gunned down by intruders.
Fast forward to October 2019, the Meyiwa family in Kwa-Zulu Natal has allegedly taken the matter to the Afriforum - an organisation that has built quite a reputable name for itself within the spectrums of law and the wider community in Mzansi.
According to IOL, the Meyiwa family are confident that Senzo's killers will finally be brought to book, as they have also received support from the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele.
The department of police once made a shocking announcement about the completion of the much-talked about case but there's hardly been any progress thereafter.
Senzo's brother, Sfiso Meyiwa recently spoke publicly about the plans to finalise his late brother's case.
“We are happy and hopeful that this case is about to be resolved, we know that AfriForum does not take bribes; they are going to solve this case."
Afriforum deputy chief executive, Ernst Roets, confirmed that the family has reached out to them, however nothing has been finalised as yet and they're still in talks.
“AlI can tell you is that someone has reached out to us and we have discussed it.We haven’t reached a decision yet and I think the reason why this is in the media is that someone from the family has stated to the media that they have reached out to us."
Tweeps had their own views on #SenzoMeyiwa's case.
With the help of Afriforum and the police minister, hopefully the findings will bring about peace to the Meyiwa family and his fan, as well as lay allegations to rest - such as the allegstions that there were no intruders in the house to begin with.
