Kabelo Motsamai aka Prince Kaybee has kept South Africans jovial and dancing ever since he stepped into the scene a few years ago.
In 2017, he first blessed us with his debut album I Am Music and tomorrow (8 March 2019) music lovers will have the pleasure of hearing his second and highly anticipated album titled - Re Mmino (We are music).
Fetch Your Life, which is his recent single featuring singer - Msaki has received an overwhelmingly positive response from not only his fans but radio stations across the country. The song is currently at number one on Metro FM's Top 40, and we can expect a video from the single coming soon.
The song is not only praised for its instrumentals but also for its lyrical content as well.
In an exclusive interview with ZAlebs, Prince Kaybee mentioned that although he did not write the song, he was very much involved in the direction of how he wanted the song to sound like by the time it was completed.
"I would only direct because I decide the arrangements of the song and stuff like that, so you need to work with something that will work with the song. Remember, as a producer; I have an idea of how the song is going to sound like even when the song is not done yet, so you need to accommodate that as a vocalist."
Prince Kaybee further confirmed that Msaki wrote the song and that the writing process of the Fetch Your Life was smooth-sailing because of how creatively in sync he and Msaki were in studio.
"Msaki, who is also an incredible songwriter and one of the best songwriters in the country, wrote the song. Everything just fitted perfectly; the song took about 40 minutes to an hour to record."
It is a known fact that an artist's emotional state has a strong influence on the sound they're trying to create, for Prince Kaybee the creative process of Re Mmino was filled with a lot of positive vibes and happiness. He mentioned that he exuded a lot of positive energy while producing Re Mmino.
"When you're happy you perform at your best, your feelings and your nerves must be calm. So I cannot be thinking about being cheated on or anything negative like that, you make the best music when you are the best version of yourself. I've never done a song or an album where I feel as though things were bad. I mean things were bad, but I was fine, there are times when you are just cool with your circumstances even though things may not be ok."
For a man who has produced many hit songs, we were quite surprised to hear Prince Kaybee mention that this album is his best work by far, how does he know that this is his best work yet?
"I feel like I'm just getting exposed to a lot of things every year, even if it's not music, even if it's people. A stranger that I come across today might just inspire me to create a song.
I'm exposed to a lot of things now, a lot of sounds, technology is evolving, the music software is getting better so every year I get introduced to a lot of different sounds, so I feel like because of those type of things, this project is my best work by far."
The album will feature many vocalists such as the likes of Rose, who features on a song titled - The Weekend, Mthokozisi who features in the album's intro and Indlovukazi for the song - Gugulethu which received a positive reception from the crowd on Wednesday night during the album's launch at Universal Music Group.
"Gugulethu is a fantastic song. A lot of people have told me not to be too musical, but I didn't care, I'm was just doing me, and the song came out perfect. It's the fourth single on the album, and to me, it's the best song on Re Mmino."
If you're a fan of House Music and especially Prince Kaybee, this is the album to get at midnight on the 8th of March 2019.
