South African president Cyril Ramaphosa had us on the edge of our seats on Sunday night as he prepared to address the nation on how government would be tackling the coronavirus outbreak going forward...

Despite being over two hours late, Cyril took to his podium to announce extreme tactics to not only curb the spread of the virus, but to protect the population.

They included;
- A travel ban to high risk areas including China, Italy , Iran, UK & USA amoungst others
-Closure of schools and universities this week
-International travel prohibited whilst domestic travel strongly discouraged
-Gatherings over 100 people prohibited
-Closure of more than half of SA's ports of entry

Take a look at the key points made in the address below;

Following the address, a number of Zalebs took to social media in reaction to the new changes set to be implemented

Lasizwe voiced his concern for a number of issues, and in particular how the outbreak would affect people living in townships and those that travel by public transport.

He also feared there would be a large scale of job losses.

Rami Chuene was elated at the news of a travel ban;

Maps Maponyane also welcomed the news, and encouraged the public take the steps seriously, including avoiding physical contact.

Anele and blogger Aisha Baker urged South Africans to not criticise the plan of action, but comply with the had of cards being dealt with.

Do you think the president and government are doing a good job on how they plan to tackle the coronavirus outbreak?
