If you grew up in the 90's and early 2000's and wanted to be a presenter, being a Top Billing presenter was the ultimate goal to achieve.
The luxurious mansions, holiday destinations, and its attractive presenters on the show were enough motivation to have you working on your own physical appearance and working even harder to one day purchase that luxury home and have enough money to take you and your loved ones to that breath-taking holiday destination overseas.
Everything about Top Billing is quite aspirational but when we heard the rumour of the show allegedly not paying its presenters we were quite puzzled.
When we're watching Top Billing all we're literally thinking about is money, money, money and even more money. So if there's no money to pay its presenters what does this say about the show as a whole?
The latest rumour to run amok in the local entertainment world is that Top Billing presenters have allegedly not been paid their salaries for a few months now. This also includes a few other SABC productions as well.
Apparently, new shows are being commissioned but revenue continues to be a bit of an issue. It's also rumoured that we might also see a few other shows getting cut back. As long as those shows don't include Skeem Saam, Nyan'Nyan, Real Talk with Anele, Muvhango and Uzalo we're cool.
Whilst the likes of Ayanda Thabethe are doing an exceptional job on the show, it's been a while since we've seen the likes of Bonang presenting on Top Billing. Apparently, Bonang hasn't left Top Billing but she won't be on the show as often as we used to see her.
Thankfully all the Top Billing presenters have multiple streams of income coming their way so one less paycheck shouldn't really cause a dent in their bank account but it would be great to get paid for your hard work.
