South Africa’s diamond Minnie Dlamini was destined for fame. 

She was barely out of diapers when she started her acting career.

Minnie’s key to longevity is staying constantly reinventing herself. 

“I am so grateful to have longevity and a successful career. Every year, I have reinvented myself because, as a TV personality, you always worry about your relevance and when your next gig is going to come along,” she told the City Press n 2019.

Who is Minnie Dlamini?


Minnie Dlamini is a TV presenter, model, actress, MC and businesswoman. She started acting when she was just three years old and would go on to study film and media, drama at the University of Cape Town. 

Minnie for her big break in 2010 when she won a presenter search. The competition was for a spot on SABC 1’s music show, LIVE.

Minnie Dlamini has hosted several other shows since then, including From Russia With Love, Mzansi Insider and SoccerZone.The actress has also appeared in two local soapies, The Wild and Rockville.

Minnie is an in-demand MC. She has hosted top awards shows such as Miss South Africa, Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) and the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).

Minnie Dlamini age 


Minnie Dlamini was born on July 7, 1990. Her parents, Queen and Jabulani Dlamini named her Minenhle. Her family nicknamed her Minnie when she was a child and the name stuck. Minnie and her brother Khosini Dlamini grew up in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Minnie Dlamini and Itumeleng Khune getting married 


Minnie Dlamini and Itumeleng ‘Itu’ Khune were South Africa’s favourite celebrity couple. The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper was so smitten with the Durban beauty several publications claimed he paid R1 million lobola to marry her. Minnie would later deny the report. Itumeleng and Minnie broke up in 2014. Minnie allegedly dumped Itu Khune after learning he was seeing another woman.

“I was happy when it was good. It was the kind of relationship I didn’t see ending. I did see myself marrying him‚” Minnie told Anele Mdoda on Real Talk in 2016.

Minnie Dlamini kept her relationship with Quinton Jones a secret for two years before going public in 2016. Minnie met Quinton when she first moved to Johannesburg. They worked at Urban Brew Studios together. They were both in a relationship at the time but became good friends. Minnie said she found the idea of them dating “weird” and rejected his romantic advances for a year before finally giving him a chance. 

“We are constantly laughing and making fun of each other but at the end of the day, wig off and no makeup, he still looks at me like I'm the most beautiful girl in the world." Minnie told the Sunday Times in 2016.

Minnie Dlamini engaged, fiancé


Minnie Dlamini introduced her fans to Quinton when she announced their engagement in 2016. They announced their engagement a few weeks before Christmas. “I said yes,” she wrote on Instagram.

Minnie revealed how her fiancé proposed during an episode of The Real Goboza in 2017. She said they drove to a bush lake and at sunset Quinton asked her to pour him a glass of champagne. When she turned around he was on one knew.

“I was a bit shocked for a while, I could not believe it. He has this tendency, every time he buys me jewellery, he goes on one knee and asks me to marry him, so I thought it was a joke, but it wasn’t, he was serious, I started crying and eventually said yes,” she said.

Minnie Dlamini wedding ring 


Minnie Dlamini’s wedding ring was designed by South African jewellery designer, Jenna Clifford. The designer says Minnie’s 18ct rose-gold, diamond and pink Morganite fine jewellery ring “was influenced by Minnie’s personal heart”. 

Jenna also designed Minnie’s engagement ring. The 13-carat handcrafted white gold engagement ring “symbolizes the couple’s love, passion, beauty and it' value cannot be weighed on money alone”. 

Minnie’s wedding ring was reportedly stolen in 2018. She was waiting at a robot with her husband when a thug pounced. The man forced them to open their car window before stealing their phones, wallets and her ring. The valuables stolen were reportedly worth R250 000. Thankfully, Minnie's ring was insured.

Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones held their traditional wedding in Durban in July 2017. She invited some of her famous friends to her umembeso. Jessica Nkosi, Anele Mdoda, Basetsana Khumalo and Nandi Madida were some of the stars who attended. 

“I’m honestly the happiest human alive right now. Being around so much love is humbling,” Minnie wrote on Twitter after the wedding.

Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones celebrated their white wedding in September 2017. The lavish ceremony was held at the Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West, Cape Town. The wedding reportedly cost more than R1 million. 

TV crews were on hand to document the nuptials for a three-part special called Becoming Mrs. Jones. The show broke ratings records.

Minnie Dlamini husband 


Minnie Dlamini’s husband Quinton Jones is a TV producer and cameraman. He has worked on shows such as Friends Like These, The Real Goboza, Live AMP, Zabalaza and Khumbul’ekhaya. Before dating Minnie, Quinton was linked to actress Pearl Thusi.

Minnie and Quinton are also business partners. They started their own production company, Beautiful Day.

Minnie Dlamini pregnant 


Since tying the knot, Minnie Dlamini has been plagued by pregnancy rumours. Her fans are constantly speculating whether she is pregnant, especially when she picks up a bit of weight. Minnie often laughs off the rumours, and once told a Twitter user she was “just fat”. But the presenter had enough of the baby talk in February 2019. She begged her followers to stop asking when she is having a child.

“Let’s trust in God’s timing for the arrival of my offspring 🙏🏾 We also need to be cognizant of how insensitive it is to speculate about pregnancy. You don’t know my journey or what I’ve been through or go through. Let’s just think before we tweet please,” she tweeted.

TV producers have already offered to a pregnancy reality show.

A tabloid newspaper claimed in 2018 that Minnie and her husband Quinton were on the verge of divorce. The paper claimed the couple were seen arguing at Cape Town International Airport. Minnie slammed the rumours on Twitter. “First I’m getting divorced then I’m fighting in public with my husband Mrs Jones ain’t going anywhere no matter what lies you try spread," she tweeted.

Minnie Dlamini brother


Minne Dlamini’s brother Khosini Dlamini died in September 2019 after spending weeks in ICU. He was 29. Khosini reportedly suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. The siblings were very close, with Khosini often praising his sister on Instagram.

Minnie broke her silence a few days after he passed away.

“‘It doesn't get easier, you just learn to live with it.’ I don't know what that means yet, but I'll let you know,” she wrote.

Minnie Dlamini’s net worth is unknown but several reports suggest she is worth over R14-million. Minnie earned her first million when she was just 20 years old. LEGiT Clothing paid her the amount for a collaboration called, The Minnie Series.

TV presenter launched her own skincare line, MD by Minnie Dlamini, in June 2019. She also co-owns the production company, Beautiful Day, with her husband.
