Basetsana Kumalo glams up her crutches

You would think that breaking her right ankle would leave Basetsana Kumalo cooped up in her house for weeks.

But the businesswoman has not let the injury prevent her from honouring her commitments and enjoying time with friends and family. 

The 42-year-old was left immobile in March after slipping in the rain while attending her son’s school concert.

The incident resulted in her undergoing two surgeries, one that saw 11 screws with a long plate being inserted into her ankle. 

Basetsana described the surgery as the worst pain she has experienced in her life. 

But she has taken the injury in her stride, and has even gone as far as to glam up her neon pink cast and add some glitter to her crutches. 

Only Bassie can make a cast and crutches look so good!

She has been out and about despite having to literally hop along everywhere she goes.

Nothing can stop the former Miss South from living life to the fullest.

Come rain or shine, cast or no cast….I was not going to miss seeing my baby gal Tshepi Maepa @angel_tshepi graduate today, being conferred with her BCom in Human Resources Management degree at Univ. Of Pretoria. Her mother Anna Maepa, is my varsity friend from Univen. We met at 1st year in 1992, and have remained bosssom friends ever since. When she gave birth to her in 1993-06-06, we were both were scared of what the future held for us. All I remember saying to her is that, we are going to get through this together, and by God’s grace we have! Tshepi’s father played a critical role and they are a happy family today!They came to tell me the good news personally and to invite me to her grad a month ago. I said to Tshepi at the time no Obama, Oprah or Denzel is going to stop me from attending your big day! When she got on that stage…..I just cried! Well done sweet child,supremely proud of you, and my friend, as I told you today, you have done a great job and raised a smart, kind, caring, compassionate, gorgeous and gracious young lady, who today looks after me on weekends, as I recuperate. Give yourself a Bell’s tonight Mzala!👏✊👍💖💟💞

Say hello to my new BFF, my neon pink Plaster of Paris (pop), finally had it fitted this afternoon after having a backslab for two weeks. Post surgery, we had to manage the pain, monitor infections snd sweling, all is well. Ms Pinky as I’ve named the pop will be with us for 4-5weeks, she had to have flair, personality, swagg and character. The journey continues…… . 🎀
