Big Brother Mzansi's return this evening will certainly be one for the books. The 24hour Live show was not renewed after the second season in 2014, due to a dramatic decline in viewership. Now, fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief as their favorite show will be back on air this evening.
The new season will start airing today on DStv Channel 161 Mzansi Magic and the 24-hour broadcast channel 198. This evening, viewers will meet the contestants who will be isolated in one house and the new host.
The premiere of the show takes place this evening at 8:00 pm and fans are eager to see what the new season has to offer.
In a statement released by MultiChoice's agency, Duma Collective last month, Multichoice confirmed that the show will return soon and promised that it will be bigger and better.

MultiChoice Group and Banijay are pleased to announce that the much-loved ’Big Brother Mzansi’ will be making its highly anticipated return to your screens soon, and it promises to be as exciting, entertaining, and action-packed as ever. Big Brother Mzansi’ is one of 69 adaptations of the Big Brother format worldwide, and this year marks 20 years since the first-ever Big Brother South Africa." the statement read.
The new season is set to be hosted by TV host and actor Lawrence Maleka,. The TV star shared that it is a honour to be part of the incredible production.
"I'm excited to be part of this instalment of Big Brother Mzansi. The franchise has become a massive phenomenon in African as well as South African pop culture, and I'm happy to join in the fun as a presenter. The fan base is huge and massively loyal – it's an honour to be part of such a fantastic production," said Lawrence.
Shirley Adonisi, recently appointed Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net said Maleka is the perfect choice to present Big Brother Mzansi season 3. “Lawrence has proven to be one of the top young talents on our screens, his vibrant and confident screen as well as stage presence is a perfect fit for Big Brother Mzansi. We can’t wait for viewers to tune in to what’s certainly going to be a very exciting season.”
In addition to the 24-hour channel (DStv channel198), daily shows and weekly highlights, viewers will also see the return of the most-liked feature, the Shower Hour. There will also be Friday game nights, Saturday night parties hosted with Channel O featuring the hottest DJs and, of course, the twists and turns of Sunday night evictions.
