This talented youth became a local internet celebrity when he uploaded videos of himself interpreting how South Africans act online. 

Lasizwe has hosted several well-known TV shows, such as MTV Base Africa’s ‘You Got Got’ and SABC 3’s ‘The Scoop Africa’. He was also on SABC 1’s ‘The Real Goboza’. He has also hosted an outdoor event with Mabala Noise and presented awards at the South Africa Hip Hop Awards in 2017. He featured in TV commercials featuring Nando’s and Fanta. He was appointed Fanta’s new teen Marketing Director.

Family and Relationships 

Lasizwe’s mother was Lindiwe Dambuza. She died in 2016. She was a 40-year-old nurse at Lesedi Private Hospital. His mother was in a relationship with his father, Menzi Mcunu. His father also passed away in 2020. But there are many ready to provide Lasizwe with the emotional support he needs, including his sisters and Lasizwe’s other parents.

Along with his mother, Lasizwe’s sister, Zonke Nkabinde, played a significant role in his life. She would guide and protect him from others. Lasizwe noticed that he felt uncomfortable around boys from an early age,  but he could relate to feminine topics comfortably. Around the age of 15, he realized he was gay. Since then, he’s been called out for some of his ‘thirsty’ comments. Lasizwe has also courted controversy for allegedly being homophobic. Talk about irony. 

Who is Lasizwe Dambuza’s Father?

Lasizwe Dambuza’s father was Menzi Mcunu. Many wrongly confuse him with a celebrity entrepreneur who shares the same name. His father attended Ohlanga High School and had informal training in art at the Community Arts Workshop in Durban. In 1987, he was awarded a bursary by the Daily News to study Fine Art at the Technikon Natal. In 1985, he showcased his exhibition at the NSA Gallery.

In 1990, he went to the Institute of Contemporary Art in London to participate in the Zabalaza Festival, which consisted of giant murals which depicted gorgeous scenes from our SA villages and townships. 

In 1991, he painted a mural at Hebox, Hammarsdale and another one for Gadaleni High School, Isandlwana. He painted a mural for Ilanga in the following year. 

He has had exhibitions in both public and private collections in SA. Talk about a talented family.

He passed away in 2020. Both his children announced his passing to their fans, and the funeral was covered by the media.
