Khutso Steven Kgale fondly known as King Monada was born on 25 November 1992 in Ga-Mokgolobotho Village, in a lush town called Tzaneen. This was in the district of Mopani, in the suburb of Limpopo, South Africa.

He was raised by his mother, Thandi Matlala as his father, Elvis Kgatla, passed away due to illness. He has two older siblings, Michael Kgatla and Lucky Kgatla.

King Monada attended Sebone Primary School and Magoza High School. However, Monada dropped out of school before completing grade 8 to pursue music.

King Monada speaks Khelobedu, a dialect of the Northern Sotho/Sepedi language.

King Monada's Career 

King Monada's biography captures the story of a young boy who was restless and eager to surmount his challenges. He was not your average kid. When his peers could only think of playing, King Monada was dreaming about his future. 

He started his career when he was only in the eighth grade. He wanted to get his name out there and make a career for himself. His breakthrough eventually came in 2016 after he signed for Open Mic Production. 

King Monada’s song, “Ska Bhora Moreki” was his claim to fame. The song he explained was inspired by party goers who love to enjoy themselves.

Since then, he’s worked with top SA artists and producers such as Tshego, Gigi Lamayne, Blaq Diamond and Kabza de Small. 

His songs became popular as he sings in Khelobedu which resonates with a lot of people.

  • In 2020, the music superstar allegedly chased her away for disrespecting his family. However, multiple reports in 2021 indicate that Cynthia is still King Monada's wife. 

  • King Monada is a proud father of three – a girl named Temoso, a baby boy named Junior and an 11-year-old (his child with his ex-girlfriend Sharon Masia. Sharon filed a court case against Monada for lack of child support).

  • King Monada and Makhadzi were locked in a dispute over the ownership of the song Ghanama. Makhadzi accused him of stealing the song from her. 

  • She argued that she introduced King Monada to the song and approached Prince Benza to produce the beats. Hence, Makhadzi said the attribution of the song should be Makhadzi featuring King Monada and Prince Benza.  

  • Makhazdi also alleged that King Monada has always taken credit for her work particularly when she was a budding artist.

  • In response, King Monada explained that the song belonged to both of them featuring Prince Benz. He further said that Makhadzi was making up for all the times she failed to feature in his songs.

  • In a Facebook Live, Monada also stated that the song was produced in his studios and afterwards, Makhadzi was influenced by external forces to claim the song. 

  • Later on, Makhadzi released the song and only featured Prince Benz. Fans were not pleased with the exclusion of King Monada to which Makhadzi responded by saying that it was a teaser to get the fans excited about the actual launch.

King Monada and Makhadzi eventually reconciled as they performed the song together in a rally and even exchanged warm messages on social media.

  • King Monada’s household setup is a rather interesting one. His wife and baby mama live under the same roof. Even before she moved in, it was common knowledge that Cynthia Ntebatse Lion was his girlfriend.

  • News of this polygamous relationship became public knowledge after he posted a selfie on his Facebook page. The picture had him, his wife Ramawela and Lion, and he captioned it with ‘King and Queens’. He ended that note with a love emoji!

    He uploaded another selfie with both women in a car, along with a young boy. We think that’s his son. It would make sense, as King Monada captioned it with ‘family’, along with a love emoji. 

    In September 2020, news filtered through that King Monada left his second wife, Lion.
