Dineo Ranaka (meaning Gifts) is one of the most successful siblings from the Ranakas family which dominates the South African entertainment industry. Her contributions to the country’s reality show industry have earned her a remarkable profile in a country known for a diversity of talents.

She is a famous South African television beauty girl, radio DJ, reality TV pageant, MC, and successful businesswoman.

Dineo prides ownership at Dineo’s Diary, one of the longstanding reality shows in the country.

Here’s a look at one from the Ranaka household.

Dineo was born on the 16th of December in 1983. She will be 37 years old in 2020.

She is the second born in a family of 2 boys and 3 girls. Her siblings are, Ranaka Manaka who is the eldest, Mpumi Ranaka, Ziggy Ranaka and Ranaka Ranaka who is the last born.

Dineo is a daughter to Mama Siba Ranaka, an accomplice business owner and Kgotlaesele Ranaka her father.

Dineo has got two beautiful kids that she adores so much and all she does is to make sure her kids have a good life. Though the kids are fathered by two different men, Dineo has kept good relations with them for the sake of her kids.

The fact that she comes from an entertainment-oriented family never distracted her from pursuing her career to its fullest. Dineo started as a radio trainee at 5fm and later joined Yfm as a producer, but later co-hosted the radio show called ‘Essential Rush’ with well known Chilli M before being given her own show. Dineo was one of the celebrities that paid their respects to legendary radio DJ Chilli when he passed away.

Her Show ‘Dineo Live on Drive’. She then co-hosted Club 808, a music show on e.TV, along with Moeti ‘Mo Flava’ Tsiki. She’s also worked with one of South Africa’s great personalities, Trevor Noah. As Yfm’s DJs they both worked as presenters on Real Goboza.

Early last year, Dineo announced that she will be pursuing a career as a DJ. Fans were optimistic until Dineo posted a practice video of herself on Instagram. Is there anything that Dineo can’t do?

Her reality show, Dineo’s Diary, is one of the longest running reality shows in South Africa and she wrapped it up at season 5.

In 2017, TV personality, Dineo Ranaka, had a show on Mzansi Magic Yim’Lo where she helps various people come clean to their loved ones about the double lives they are living.

2018 saw Dineo landed herself another big acting role when she starred in the Baby Mamas film. Romance and heartbreak seemed to be the deal in the new film which was starring Dineo Ranaka, Tembisa Mdoda, Kay Smith and Salamina Mosese doubled up as a producer and Stephina Zwane who directed the film.

The movie was such a success as it was screened nation wide and in a few African countries and the ladies even appeared on the cover of Bona magazine.

Dineo Ranaka Controversy

Like many other celebrities, because of what she may have said or done, Dineo at times has rubbed people the wrong way. In 2011, it was reported by The Sowetan that Dineo had a fight with the Yfm marketing manager and things got out hand. The station ordered her to go for rehab or lose her job.

Fast forward to 2015, Dineo had all the men in South Africa after she said they are cowards. This statement stemmed from her concerns about the string of Xenophobic attacks that occurred in the country, it also came from a place of worry as her two children are both fathered by foreign men.

In 2018, it seems Dineo was avoiding her responsibilities after she had crashed into another car being driven by a 53 year old man. For the damages, the man in question was demanding R30 000, but Dineo was nowhere to be found.

The one that hit the ceiling was back in 2018 when Cassper was very vocal about what he thinks about Dineo. He dissed Dineo and said her music was bad.

Dineo Ranaka made some cynical comments about Cassper Nyovest during her Metro FM Top 40 show and it seems that the media personality had more to get off her chest as she allegedly called Bonang Matheba a ‘straatmate’ on her radio show and she was unapologetic about it.

Wrong move!

Bonang’s fans were not about to let Dineo get away with it, but Dineo has a spicy clap back where she told tweeps that she will says what she wants when she wants.

Dineo has never been shy to speak her mind and she does not care what people may have to say.

When it comes to being on the decks, we hope to see more from Dineo because it seems she’s got this and the fans are loving it.
