Only a few weeks after Top Billing kicked off its comeback season on SABC3, the competition to land a presenter spot is already heating up—and the show’s name continues to pop up on trend feeds as more well-known faces throw their support behind their own audition journeys.
The presenter search, which is scheduled to close on June 30, has attracted a mix of talent from across entertainment and media. Actress Lerato Nxumalo, former Big Brother Mzansi contestant Harriet “Mpumi” Mthimunye, YFM presenters Sizwe Mngomezulu and rapper Ocean L (the son of Sophie Ndaba), have all shared audition clips as they vie for a chance to join the next chapter of the programme.
If they make the cut, the winners will be able to step into the existing lineup of hosts, which includes Arno Greeff, Sine Mpulu and Bryoni Govender.
As the auditions continue to roll out online, viewers and social media users have also been weighing in—reacting to what participants bring to the camera, and sharing their thoughts on who feels like the strongest fit for the Top Billing audience.

In the middle of all the entries, Bonang Matheba—who has served as a presenter on Top Billing in the past and is now part of the search as a judge—shared advice for hopefuls preparing their tapes. Her message was consistent: don’t try to imitate anyone else, and don’t overcomplicate the delivery.
“Try not to mimic anybody. Be unique. Be yourself. Be conversational. Have a conversation. That’s what TV is all about. We need to feel like we’re talking to you through the a medium of television,” she said.
She added: “Be natural; don’t put on a presenter voice. We don’t want that. Be you because no-one can be a better you than you.”
