Here's more proof that politics and celebrities do not mix very well. Kwaito superstar Arthur Mofokate has hit back at EFF leader Julius 'Juju' Malema for criticising his affiliation with the ANC.
Malema caused a stir recently when he slammed the ANC for spending money on "useless, expired artists" like Arthur and Kelly Khumalo.
Juju reportedly made the comments while speaking at a campaign in Tshwane.
“We have seen [the ANC] spend a billion rand on fake celebrities‚ extremely fake celebrities who can’t succeed in their own right...” Sowetan Live quoted Malema.
He added: "As I speak‚ I’m trying to think what is Kelly Khumalo’s hit… what is she known for? But she is pocketing between ten thousand and fifteen thousand rands for every appearance she makes at an ANC event."
Ouch!
Arthur did not take too kindly to Malema's harsh criticism. He has told the EFF leader to "shut up".
"Malema must just shut up and concentrate on the elections. Name-calling is for intellectually challenged people. What does he know about music and trending songs?" he said, according to the Sunday World.
Scores of well-known celebrities, including AKA, DJ Zinhle, Minnie Dlamini, Dineo Ranaka, Nhlanhla Nciza, Jessica Nkosi, and Thembi Seete, have come out to show their unwavering support for the ruling party.
Some have also been seen rocking their ANC apparel while out an about.

Despite being slammed for using their star power to endorse political parties, the celebrities seem unfazed.
Rapper AKA came under fire recently for attending an ANC rally. Fans accused him of doing it for the money, while others expressed disappointment, and vowed never to attend any of his shows.
"I make more money in 30min, on stage than I'm being paid for weeks of campaigning. So how can it be about money?" AKA tweeted.
He also made headlines in May when he vowed never to perform at DA or EFF events.
It remains to be seen whether celebrity campaigning will have any effect at the polls.
