Cassper Nyovest released an album on the 30th of June titled Sweet And Short 2.0, but the lukewarm reception about the album did not go unnoticed. The rapper who deviated from Hip Hop to explore his Amapiano side for this album, missed the mark for some of his listeners.

Sweet And Short 2.0 is an extension from his 2018 album Sweet And Short, but they are both at opposite extremes. The first release had a strong Hip Hop presence, as well as a few Afro Beat hit songs. With this release, he proved how much he loves Amapiano and so a few of his songs were dedicated to the genre.

On the album he worked with recognisable artists such as Lady Du, Abidoza, Boohle, Samthing Soweto and his son Khotso.

Whilst his fans are loving the album and are appreciating his craft and diversity, the latter is not feeling it and people are heavily criticising him.

"Cassper tried to make an album with songs that sound like other piano songs that were hits. It sounds like Fong Kong piano.

"Cassper has reached a point in his career that he believes in his hype way too much that even niggas around him are afraid to tell him when his recording k*k.

"Essses Cassper Nyovest has outdone himself. I’ve never deleted an album this fast.

"Ahhh this time his album is trash. I am a big fan of Cassper but that album is trash..I'm so disappointed in him, I haven't been okay since he dropped this k*k album," were some of the negative comments.

Mizing the hate though, Cassper is focused on the numbers and he is proud to say that after hours of releasing his album, 6 of his songs made it to the charts. " #SweetAndShort2 has 6 songs on the Top 10 chart right now. Thank you so much for the love. Very happy with the reception," he thanked.

Cassper's previous album Any Minute Now was a certified hit album and he fed off from the hype it created. Cassper reminded people that he created a masterpiece. “People don't really listen to albums anymore so the fact that a rap album with nothing but rap music on it has been number 1 for 4 weeks straight in the Amapiano climate is lit. You can't downplay that. I dropped a fucking amazing album and the people are loving it. Go fella FAO!”

He shared these sentiments because when he released that album, SA Hip Hop was not so popular compared to Amapiano. So he drew inspiration from that.
