Cici and Donald have been a musical pair that fans fell in love with so much so that for years they have sparked dating rumours. Rumours which have since been confirmed as untrue as Cici is happily married and a mother of one with her husband. But in March 2022, the duo showed how they would capitalise on their chemistry with a concert titled The Love Tour.
Seeing as the duo announced the concert which took place on Friday, 26 August 2022 at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef, Johannesburg. It would have been safe to assume that the show would be a crowd puller. But if reports by paid promoter and controversial Twitter account Musa Khawula is anything to go by. It does suggest that The Love Tour could have done with some more love from Cici and Donald’s fan base.
Vusi Nova pulls out of The Love Tour
Before show time, The Love Tour announced that one of its most important supporting headline performers Vusi Nova had pulled out from the concert. The official word shared on why Vusi Nova would not be part of the show was reduced to a “family emergency.” A statement which is as standard as it might be false.
This is as Vusi Nova might have not made an appearance during the concert. But the musician’s social media pages seem to suggest differently. This is as the Thandiwe hit maker, who has recently let go of his statement long-haired wig extensions, seemed to still share posts of his other performances, which seem like they were from the day before. Moreover, Vusi Nova did not even take the time to share on his accord why he was not part of the concert anymore, which suggests to us that there might be more to the matter.
Cici and Donald's Love Tour a flop?
Interestingly, to promote their concert, it seems that Cici and Donald hired controversial Twitter account Musa Khawula to promote the concert. This is as Khawula, who recently caught hands from Moshe Ndiki, was given the VIP experience by being wine-and-dined before the concert took place.
You would think that in light of the speculated paid promotion, that Musa would be complementary of The Love Tour. But that was not the case as he made his posts more about himself and berating the actual concert. First, he suggested that he was about to catch more hands, this time at the hands of a Thapelo, who he had spoken negatively about in the past. Musa also suggested that he now had “security,” which many thought is a lie because could he even afford one?
Secondly, he was posting that the love tour was such a flop in terms of audiences that it was not even full when the concert first started. Moreover, he suggested that half-way through the concert that fans were already leaving their seats in search of a better vibe. But his assertions must be taken with a pinch of salt as videos shared from the concert, suggest that Musa is not telling the truth as fans have come out against his assertions.
