One of the brightest and, to date, least-known Afrobeats stars in Africa has done an extensive interview with Al Jazeera and in it, we learn a lot more about Olayinka Lawal who burst onto the scene with his epic hit “Dance” which has helped drive his 50 million streams on Tik Tok.
The 29-year-old describes himself as a 'beat maker', with the original "Dance" tune, - which was labeled South Africa beat style, garnering almost 865,000 views on Youtube.

In the article, DJ YK notes his disappointment that so few actually know who he is despite having done a tune that reverberated through the continent and was played on various entertainment spots.
Part of the problem is that some people think (we totally disagree by the way) that DJ YK’s music can’t be played on the radio. However, despite having not hit the headlines in Nigeria, DJ YK has performed at various concerts, sharing the stage alongside some of the game's big names, including Mr. Eazi and Reekado Banks.
