1.     Mary Twala

Somizi has shared that his actress mother Mary Twala has passed away on his late father's birthday, on Saturday, 4 July 2020. Taking to social media, Somizi broke the sad news that "the tree has fallen", leaving Mzansi in complete despair. The actress passed away at Netcare Park Lane Hospital, Johannesburg, after experiencing health issues for several weeks. 

2.     Mshoza 

The first lady of Kwaito passed away on Thursday, 19 November 2020. The Kortez hitmaker succumbed peacefully in the early hours of this morning at the age of 37. It had been reported that she had suffered from complications relating to her diabetes. 

3.     Anele Ngcongca 

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca sadly passed away following a tragic car accident on Monday, 23 November 2020. The 33-year-old died a few days after the passing of his former lover Kwaito star Mshoza, real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi

4.     Vinolia Mashego

Renowned veteran TV presenter and actress Vinolia Mashego, who was well known for hosting the show Jam Alley, also died in 2020. According to Eyewitness News, the veteran presenter passed away at the age of 56, in a peaceful sleep at her home in early April 2020. 

Legendary musician who is credited with founding Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Joseph Shabalala, passed away on Tuesday, 11 February 2020. The group's manager confirmed the news when he said, "We have lost a leader of the family and of the group. As the family we are shocked and saddened"
