The DJ is no stranger to being dragged on social media. This follows her controversial win of Ukhozi FM's 'Song of the Year' in 2021 for her song Isibani. Mzansi has never forgotten about the historic win, which no one had predicted.
Taking to her Facebook account, the DJ shared that she will be playing at Vida Loca Lunge in Ladysmith on 10 September 2021. Instead of hyping her gig, Facebook users dragged her.
It was even suggested that she retire from the industry by one of Facebook users. PG USonic commented, "DJ Hlo is it true that you were also shocked like us you were separating the year you didn't know... I will never forget what you did last December."

Speaking to Isolezwe earlier this year, the DJ threatened to take legal actions against trolls who dragged her triumphant win. "Isibani is not a song that just came out of the blue. I released this track a long time ago, encouraging people to vote for it and download it. After this Ukhozi FM opened its entries for the Song of The Year and I encouraged people to nominate it and vote for it," she said.
According to her, she worked tirelessly to promote her song, visiting taxi ranks in Joburg, Durban station, and even visiting the Zulu King.
The DJ was also accused of bribing Ukhozi FM and receiving financial aid for her businesses from certain entrepreneurs but she has debunked the claims, "Those who spread false information about me which is not true, my legal team is on top of that. They will be dealt with because that is a defamation of character. They are turning me into a complete different person and that is not okay, so my legal team is on top of that," she concluded.
Speaking to Drum, Hlo expressed her disappointment at the backlash she has received on social media. "It didn't make me happy but it is what it is. I am thankful to be surrounded by people who make me feel proud and make me feel like this is a big achievement and they are encouraging me to focus on the positive."
She said she was happy that some comments were positive. "I am content. I didn't think I would receive such a big milestone at the beginning of my career. This is a great opportunity for me to grow as an artist, and to learn from other artists too," she said.
