Innocent Matijane is livid at the treatment he has been receiving because of his sexuality from society.
He shared a video of a recent encounter he had with a shop owner who refused to sell him cooldrink because he is gay.
The shop owner, who is a foreign national, refused to offer his services because it is against his culture to interact with gay people. In the video he can be heard defending himself by saying it is his culture and he is abiding by it.
Bystanders who witnessed the incident did not help Inno as they watched and stood by, amused.
A raging Inno is heard going back and forth with the shop owner and he threatened to take this incident to the authorities and the South African Human Rights Commision (SAHRC).
To make things even more traumatic for him, not only were the replies under his tweet mean and uncalled for, the police officers refused to help him out on the case and after a few attempts, they called him 'annoying.'
The police officer he spoke with informed Inno that it was within the shop owners 'rights' to refuse to sell to him and told him to stop being a nag.
The reception he received for his tweets where he relayed his experience which left him angry, he has concluded that Twitter is not a healthy place as trolls reside there.
"Ever since my tweet yesterday about how I was denied customer service because of my sexuality, I’ve seen seen a number of people who have validated for me that nothing has changed. People really pull a front about accepting the LGBTQ+ community. I’m appalled, hurt & disappointed," he said.
He also advised people to protect their mental state by just logging in to tweet, then log out.
