Actor Innocent Masuku was a recent guest on Podcast And Chill where he spoke in depth about his drug addiction and his time away from the spotlight.
The former Tshisa and Yizo Yizo actor Innocent Masuku, always spoke candidly about his addiction and how drugs damaged his life and acting career. Making it a thing of the past.
In the interview where he spoke with hosts MacG and Sol Phenduka, Innocent said drugs took so much money from him. He claims to have spent over R500K on drugs. He also said he lost millions, about R5 million, in the industry as a result of this drug addiction.
That's not all, Innocent also said drugs can keep you awake for days and when you do eventually sleep, you pass out for about 3 days.
In commemoration of June 16, the Economic Freedom Fighter penned a heartfelt message, to the youth, informing them of the bad choices they make and how they have consequences.
“Be careful of the choices you make. It’s amazing how time flies. Sometimes, the choices you make can cost you many opportunities,” he said. “When I got into the acting industry, I was involved in drugs, and I regret it because I lost so many opportunities. I lost so many friends and good things and the sad part is that I won't be able to regain that time,” he said.
"Bafethu ayikho dustbin yokulahla abantu, let us come together, and help each other" he concluded.
In a previous interview with Drum Magazine Innocent said he regrets his decision to use drugs and added that he lost out on many opportunities because of it.
“I regret it because I lost so many opportunities, you understand. I lost so many friends and good things and even if I regret it, I can never reverse time and be able to regain that time. It feels bad. Deep down, I still regret it even today. But I am one of the lucky few to have survived.”

“The first few years when I tried to quit drugs with all my heart, I had so many problems and lost out on so many opportunities,” he said. “There are many things I could be counting and could have done. But you know what in life, there is always a second chance.”
He cautions people on the usage of drugs and how to overcome them “Be careful of the choices you make. It’s amazing how time flies. Sometimes, the choices you make can cost you many opportunities.”
“You can go to rehab, but it won’t help if you are not ready fully. I know change is pain, but it starts with you. I did things, I was a good role model and people were looking up to me. I was a big role model, but I failed people and did things they were not expecting. But I decided to forgive myself.”
