Last month, media moguls, Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo put out a statement on social media about their decision to take legal action against author, Jackie Phamotse, following a series of tweets that sparked controversy on social media. After appearing in court earlier today, the judge has ruled against the author and in favour of the Kumalos.
Following Phamotse's mischievous tweet that alluded that Basetsana asked Jackie's friend not to put out a video of her husband Romeo in a compromising position, Magistrate Helen Banks charged Phamotse with harassment at the Randburg Magistrate's Court earlier today in addition to granting Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo a protection order.
Jackie was ordered to remove her tweets and refrain from speaking publicly about the couple or she will face jail time.
Co-accused Ronnie Mckenzie also faces charges of harassment for sharing a screenshot of Jackie’s malicious tweet in a private WhatsApp group chat which he is an administrator of.
After the court proceedings, a journalist present outside of the court asked Basetsana how she felt to which she simply responded by saying: “Vindicated and very blessed that my family's name has been restored."
