According to a report on News24, Kelly Khumalo who has always maintained that she had nothing to do with the murder of her then boyfriend and baby daddy Meyiwa, is paying her lawyer to observe the court proceedings.
Muzikawulahlelwa S’tembu Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokosizeni Ziphozonke Maphisa and Sifikuhle Nkani Ntuli who are accused of killing Senzo Meyiwa, appeared in the North Gauteng High Court on Tuesday.
The trial was postponed for five days, after some of the accused lawyers said they were not ready to proceed. Speaking to the media, Kelly's lawyer Magdalene Moonsamy, said her client was in good spirits and wishes the case would be resolved quickly.
“She is very positive. She is in good spirits. She has been looking forward to this, and it's nowhere, and we anticipate closure. There is a family involved, there is a child involved that has lost her dad and this is important for the purposes of herself and for the purposes of moving forward.” she told the media.
The men accused of killing Senzo maintained their innocence before and believe they are being used as scapegoats to protect the real mastermind behind the high-profile murder of the football icon. Meyiwa was shot at his then girlfriend and baby mama Kelly Khumalo’s mother’s home in Vosloorus on the East Rand on October, 2014.
According to the people who were at the house when he was gunned down, intruders stormed inside the house and demanded cellphones and money. A fight ensued and Senzo was shot dead. It was reported that the intruders made off with Kelly's cellphone.
When Meyiwa was initially shot and killed, it was reported that it was a botched robbery. However, recent details indicate his assassination was a contract hit rather than a robbery gone wrong.
