Khanyi Mbau has been kicked off the SATMA’s presenter roster and replaced with Stoan Seate and Pearl Thusi after she allegedly failed to meet contractual obligations.
According to a source who wishes to remain anonymous, Mbau was hired as the host for the 2017 South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMAs) and her duties included touring and promoting the awards in the lead up to the main ceremony.
The source also alleges that she had been paid upfront and did not perform any of her duties, opting instead to ignore any of the organizers attempts to contact her.
"The contract we had with her was that she’d host our build-up events and the main one. But she never attended any event, she simply ignored our calls and SMSes. We suffered financial losses because in some instances, we had to book studios and other things just for her…” began SATMA project manager, Jo Kerwane.
He also confirmed that Seate and Thusi will host the main show while Thando Thabethe and Jessica Nkosi will come on board as red carpet hosts.
Sunday Sun spoke to Mbau about this and she denied being paid upfront and alleges that she was only “taken off the schedule” because their schedules clashed thus preventing her from performing the promotional duties ahead of the main event.
The SATMA’s will take place this coming Saturday, 30 September 2017, in Mahikeng.
