Work places are supposed to be a safe space for both women and men but when you start feeling uncomfortable because of several sexual innuendos, it can scar a person.
Just like the alleged case between Pearl and her former Metro FM boss where she alleged she was sexually harassed by him. The story was reported by Sunday World, and Pearl breathed a sigh of relief when the media caught up.
Speaking to the publication at the time, Pearl said, “More than once, reference was made about my body shape and how ‘sexy it is’. Uncomfortable sexual innuendos were thrown around during conversations, even in the presence of my now former colleagues.”
Pearl recently took to Twitter to state how she does not miss the radio station premises which often involve asking about meetings and emails etc.
A follower asked her if she is willing to return to radio and she said never.
Even after her son's birthday party, people asked her if she is willing to go back to radio but she shut that down as well. On her IG stories, she shared a picture with Thomas Msengana and fans wished they could reunite. She told her fans that chapter has been closed for now. She had a terrible experience and was allegedly subjected to sexual assault.
“I do see all of your DMs on the picture that I posted with Thomas. It was so nice to see him after a very long time. But what you guys are saying that ‘we miss you on radio’, it’s so nice to hear that. It’s always nice when people miss you for doing what you do. But that chapter is closed, for now. We could revisit it in the future, but not anytime soon,” she said.
Reports stated that Pearl would be lawyering up to sue her former radio station, Metro FM for R3.5 million. Pearl, allegedly wants to sue the South African Broadcasting Commission (SABC) for not doing anything when she reported the assault she allegedly suffered from Anthony Sogolo.
Some of the points she made in her statement include; "There was also an incident where I had posted a bikini picture on Instagram and he inappropriately brought up a conversation about that picture and how ‘hot I looked’,” she explained.
“The last sexual remark he made was in an e-mail that other staff members were copied on. I responded that it made me feel uncomfortable and that I was tired of the sexual harassment I was subjected to. This e-mail was sent during my radio show and only one of the guys copied stood up for me."
