Sunday World broke a story of Pearl's sexual harassment claims at the hands of her former manager at Metro FM. When the story broke, Pearl expressed joy that finally he would be brought to book as she had been silent for far too long.

Emails were leaked where the manager allegedly makes a sexual comment about Pearl which left her violated. Other incidences were brought to light by Pearl and the SABC has since reacted to the claims.

In a statement issued on Twitter, the SABC encourages other employees to take a stand and report such cases. "The SABC notes with concern media articles about the alleged sexual harassment case at Metro FM and the Tweet by Ms. Pearl Modiadie.

"The SABC views sexual harassment in a serious light and will use its internal policies and procedures to deal with this matter. The SABC encourages any employees subjected to sexual harassment to use the Corporationโ€™s specific internal channels to report such cases," the statement reads.

Tweeps are not impressed by this because when contacted by Sunday World, Pearl alleges that she had informed the station manager but she swept it under the rug.

This is what Pearl told the publication; โ€œMore than once, reference was made about my body shape and how โ€˜sexy it isโ€™. Uncomfortable sexual innuendos were thrown around during conversations, even in the presence of my now former colleagues.โ€

โ€œThere was also an incident where I had posted a bikini picture on Instagram and he inappropriately brought up a conversation about that picture and how โ€˜hot I lookedโ€™,โ€ she explained.

โ€œThe last sexual remark he made was in an e-mail that other staff members were copied on. I responded that it made me feel uncomfortable and that I was tired of the sexual harassment I was subjected to. This e-mail was sent during my radio show and only one of the guys copied stood up for me.

โ€œHe then apologised on e-mail and came down to studio to apologise in person. I was visibly upset and in tears! Even the celebrity guest who was present for his studio interview saw all of this. I felt violated and couldnโ€™t even show up for work the next day.

โ€œI had copied the then station manager in the e-mail and there was never a response from her. It was never addressed,โ€ she said

At the time, the SABC denied being made aware of this incident but now, have acknowledged it. Tweeps are fuming and have made Pearl trend.
