South African actress, Pearl Thusi, has once again taken her service provider issues to social media. Not one to hold back in calling out big businesses and companies for their incompetence, the actress focused her attention on City Power Joburg, who had failed to respond to her previous requests.
In a Tweet shared today, 2 November 2020, Pearl explained that she had no choice but to resort to social media – one of the perks of being a super star! She informed them that there was an electrical issue that was located outside of her home, and with the bad weather experienced in Johannesburg recently, her family was in danger of being electrocuted.
She stated, “Hi @CityPowerJhb, I have tried everything to get help & now I’m resorting to social media. An issue that’s putting my family in danger- an exposed box hanging off the pole right at our gate that sparks & destroys appliances when there are storms. Need help urgently.”
The City Power Joburg Twitter account quickly responded to her post, however, Tweeps were unimpressed with their suggestion. They replied with, “Hi Pearl, please log a call on http://citypower.mobi for further assistance.” In the words of many of her followers… “Oh helllllllll nah!”. Tweeps began dragging the account for their nonchalant response, with a number of her fans highlighting the star power of Pearl, and what her influence could potentially do to them. Stanley tweeted, “Please check your records and see which Pearl this is…. I wouldn’t go there if I were you.”
Whilst many had her back when it came to the safety of her family, social media wasn’t so kind to her back in July, when they believed that she was using her celebrity status to solicit special treatment from MTN. , Pearl Thusi, tweeted MTN, after she claimed that her data was running out fast. She stated, “Dear @MTNza - don’t know why my contract Data isn’t working so I bought 5GB data yday. In a few hours-gone. I loaded 500 airtimes to use to buy data later- it ended up being used without warning. Now I loaded 6GB & it was gone in an hour… wasn’t even using my phone. Please help.”
MTN responded back in less than an hour stating, “Hi Pearl, we can confirm that one of our admin consultants are assisting you via DM.” Fans shared their grievances with both Pearl and MTN, with many questioning why the actress was helped so timeously, whilst others have had not been assisted for weeks.
