With the new season of The Wife nearing its premier, we are getting introduced to new cast members. Actor Stoan Seate says he did not audition for the role of Sefako.
Speaking to Sunday World he spoke about his character in more detail. “Funny enough I did not audition for the role, I can see pieces of myself within Sefako in terms of his social standing, his personality, and the fact that he is versatile as a human being,” he said as quoted by the publication.
“I actually share a heritage with Sefako he is a young man from the Bahurutshe tribe. He is very close to Naled’s father and he is an accomplished man who has done well for himself.”
Sefako Joins the series as Qhawe's rival because they are both after the same woman, Naledi.
“I believe Sefako is a catalyst for other things that are happening on Naledi’s side, not that he is not aware but he is still aware of what is at play. He does not have much of a say in whether he parts in the parcel of the game or not,” he added.
Speaking about their chemistry between he and Naledi, Kwenzo who plays Qhawe said in a statement, “When two lovers meet, it's always an exciting and lovey-dovey situation. However, a few months later, challenges begin to emerge. That's when the drama begins.”
“What Qhawe and Naledi have is beautiful. People will witness this couple facing numerous challenges and their world being rocked hard. There are many people who are in love but are in situations that make it difficult for them to love each other, and I believe this story will be very relatable to them. It's really something beautiful.”
Gaisang K Noge who plays Naledi a said, “One thing about Qhawe and Naledi, they love each other. Their relationship is a journey but even in that journey they continue to love each other. Even through obstacles, they continue to be madly in love all the way.”
“I don’t want people to be afraid of love. I hope this season brings fans joy and makes them excited to put themselves out there and to love again.”
Another actress joining the show is Sambulo's love interest Lungelo Mpangase who plays Xoli. She told Sunday World, “Xoli is a very free-spirited person, she believes in her own rules and knows the power that she has. She’s not your typical submissive Zulu girl, but lives by her own rules and is very free sexually, hence she knows the power she has with her body,” said Mpangase.
“The difference between Xoli and Lungelo is that I am a ‘girly girl’ and Xoli is brave and intelligent. Xoli does things that I don’t think I would even dream of doing, she’s brave and out there, meanwhile, Lungelo is an introvert.”
