Many viewers feel her lifestyle is not in line with the glamorous show. MaKhumalo recently got dragged for her rural home and for arriving in a Toyota at an event she hosted. This is as some of the housewives had arrived in rides worth millions of rands.
Speaking to Drum Magazine, the reality show star who is well known on Uthando Nes'thumbu, said it would have been misleading for her to be found at a new house in Durban rather than her Mzumbe house.
"If you know MaKhumalo then you’d know that she is someone from the rural areas. So, it was going to be misleading to find MaKhumalo, watching her for the first time on a new show, now you find her at a new house and not in Umzumbe," she told the publication.
As a rural girl who ended up in urban areas, MaKhumalo is proud of her accomplishments.
"Secondly, it is one thing that I pride myself with to be someone who comes from 'deep rural' but made it to the urban areas and was able to mingle with people who are assumed to be from very high standards,” she stated.
According to the reality show star who recently relocated to Durban due to work commitments, producers of the show never showed interest in her Durban properties that she might be owning. Basically, they wanted a woman who can live a rural and urban lifestyle simultaneously.
“The producers of the show wanted that aspect of a women from the rural areas who is able to live both the life of the urban as well as that of the rural areas.” If the producers only wanted to portray her urban life, she was not going to agree to it because she is deeply in love with her roots, she said.
“There were never interested in the properties that I might be owning in the urban areas because they wanted to spice things up.”
MaKhumalo said she is not bothered by the criticism. She believes there is nothing or no one that can change the way she looks at herself.
“I am one person who is very content, I know who I am, and I do not think there is anything or anything who can make me change the way I look at myself. So regardless of what you believe in, it does not affect me. I know who I am and that does not change. I can try to look at thigs in a way and try to be considerate because if you are living with different people obviously, you need that because you are not the same including your backgrounds.”
Last week's episode of The Real Housewives of Durban featured Thobile being fashionably late for her event and many of the housewives were not happy. This is also because they didn't know who invited them to the event.
LaConco is probably one of them who is fond of MaKhumao. This comes after she dragged MaKhumalo's grand entrance saying, "You know I am expecting some private jets, red carpets, Oprah Winfrey is in Durban or some Beyonce has landed or somebody special, we were invited by Thobile. I have never been bored like this in my life?
We can't wait to see how their relationship unfolds in this week's episode.
