The owner of Ayepyep lifestyle died in a hail of bullets in the early hours of Sunday morning 20 November, en route to play at a gig. His passing has sent shockwaves across the industry and several celebrities have paid tribute to him.
Taking to her Twitter account, Thuli Phongolo announced yesterday that she had canceled all her gigs last night to honor her late friend. "Unfortunately, I will not be able to honour my gigs tonight. I would like to pay respect to my dear friend @djsumbodysa & honour his life and the impact he had on my mine. The show doesn’t always have to go on, somethings are worth taking a pause for," she wrote.

@NhliziyoHenry "Well I think you can still honor your friend by showing up at the gig.. we've been seeing artists paying tribute to their friends in shows all over the world."
@kittyDuncannon "Could have played a set in his honor. He was a Dj after all and would have loved to see the show continue."

Thuli, in this industry you pay respects to you friend by honoring your booking. Than your pay tribute with your set and end of your set with Monate Mpolaye...

Thuli has hit back at the trolls calling them insensitive. "Some people are insensitive. This is no room to be sassy and throw nasty comments for whatever benefit of clout or baseless jabs. Stop it! Choose to be anchored by grace for once," she tweeted.
