Good Samaritans came through for the veteran actor, Vusi Thanda after he made a plea to the public to help him financially. This after several stars spoke about their difficulties with their finances and received help from people.

Vusi Thanda recently made allegations that the South African Broadcasting Commission (SABC) had owed him royalties for Emzini Wezinsizwa. The veteran actor was part of the talented cast as he played the role of Tshawe.

He told Daily Dispatch that he used to receive royalties but the company stopped paying him and he was left confused.

“I used to receive royalties from the SABC. But they stopped and I don’t know why. All attempts to get clarity failed,” he told the publication.

However, the group executive for corporate affairs and marketing at the SABC, Gugu Ntuli, denied owing the actor any royalties. Speaking to IOL, Gugu said, "“It must also be noted that Emzini Wezinsizwa was last broadcast on SABC 1 two years ago and any claims for the last repeat for Mr Thanda have been settled. In terms of repeat fee payments, it must be noted that actors need to submit claims in order for the SABC to make payment. If no claim is submitted, the SABC would not be in a position to process as there would be no record of a claim.”

It all started when Vusi Thanda came out publicly to ask for donations from people, to help settle his R45 000 debt to pay his landlord.

The fact that a talented actor still pays rent and does not own property did not sit well with people.

Taking to Facebook speaking on his behalf, Nozuko MaRhadebe wrote, "As far as am concerned, this is Tshawe from e Mzini wezintsizwa. These are the people we grew up watching in the entertainment industry. We know life is like can knock you sometimes, no one has their formula. Life has knocked him too like anyone. Please people a person's R10 can go a long way. Life is not easy for him, at times he needs to go to the clinic for treatment, and age is a problem already.

"I humble myself please no negative comments people, am not trying to be arrogant but if you are not interested just keep quiet. I will ask him to make a video with his account number to avoid a scam. Tomorrow is me that day it's you. Anyone who can help please Lords," she wrote.

He then later went on video and showed his Capitec Bank card with his details. Vusi owed R45 000 to his landlord but received R100 000 in donations from the public.

He was also met with a lot of negativity from people as he was trolled for asking for help.

He told Daily Sun, ‘I am scared to talk now. I am old and I can’t take such treatment from young people.”
