Reigning Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, has finally spoken up about the incident involving Miss South Africa entry, Bianca Schoombee. Last week, South Africa was in uproar following a number of tweets dug up from the past, which showed the Miss SA hopeful making racist and derogatory comments. The negativity which surrounded her caused for Bianca to withdraw from the competition, and ultimately resulted in her being dropped from her modelling agency

Zozibini took to instagram on Wednesday, 27 May 2020, acknowledged the many messages she had received, which set her as the perfect example in the pageant world. She claimed to have noticed many people bringing her into the conversation, and crediting her for having no skeletons in her closet. She then explained that she was concerned by the high standard she was expected to live by, and took it upon herself to look back at her Facebook posts to see what she had said in 2012. Zozibini revealed that she had also made disrespectful and insensitive posts in her young years and apologised profusely for anyone she may have offended. She further explained that her previous comments directly contradicted the person she is today and the values she currently possesses.

Fans and fellow celebrities praised her for her bravery and thanked her for being open and honest as a public figure. Ami Faku stated, “Not a single soul is perfect, not even those who expect you to be. We are all working on being better people. You've done a great job at that, and that's enough. For us all it should be enough.”
