In a fast turnaround from the Lagos launch hosted by Toke Makinwa, The Real Housewives Of Lagos are back rolling down their Pink Carpet to revive the local fashion world in Jozi. It has been a while since celebrities took on any kind of carpet since the Covid-19 bans have been lifted and the entertainment industry events seem to be making a steady comeback to normality.

Showmax Nigeria is down South to launch the latest addition to the Real Housewives franchise in the Motherland, Real Housewives of Lagos. This is their second launch, following their first one from last week in Lagos. This time, the mic and hosting duties were handed over to Toke’s twin and best friend Bonang Matheba who made her first comeback to hosting duties with this event last night.
If the carpet is anything like what we saw last weekend, then we can expect to see stars flaunting yet more dazzling and outrageous looks by their favorite local fashion houses and designers.
Bonang trended right before the launch started from her Pink carpet look and interview. The presenter dazzled in a skin tone matching dress embellished with shiny sequence details and styled with a sheer baby blue cape falling one side from her neck.
Internet sensation and beauty YouTuber Mihlali Ndamase looked ravishing in a Key’s Fashion blue gown with a slit all the way from her thighs. The dress was a perfect fit for her, tight hugging and with just enough detailing. She became Twitter’s best dressed as soon as pictures of her on the carpet circulated the internet and we definitely see no wrong in this look.
DBN Gogo also graced the pink carpet in a simple yet elegant pastel pink gown. The DJ is rarely ever in a gown let alone on any carpet so she really outdid herself with this look. Her look had a dramatic but necessary sleeve detail and a sheer cape to top it off and she toned it down with a minimal black heel. The cool kid also had some BALENCIAGA ice on her neck proving that she is indeed too cool for school.Social Media influencer Sarah Langa also made it to the trends list, but not for any good reason. The streets felt that Sarah’s look had so much potential conceptually, but many if not most did not like the execution. The social media star wore an all white look, a jumpsuit with a cape from the waist down and styled it with a white cap with pearls as its detail and a pair of white Prada sunglasses and still couldn’t make an impression.
One user said that they never in their life thought that one day they would list Sarah in their top 1 worst dressed list while another one claimed that LaConco managed to put on a better look than Sarah.
All the attention was on LaConco who embodied nothing but confidence and great self-assurance in every picture and snap we saw of her on the pink carpet. The Real Housewives of Durban and ex-wife to former president Jacob Zuma wore a forest green cocktail dress with a headwrap to match it. The look may not have necessarily been that bad looking but we don’t make the decisions. Twitter went on to call her out on always managing to look twice her age. Some called the outfit worst dressed and many added that it embodies a much older church lady or a “minister of environmental affairs who meets with her peers like Naledi Pandor” one tweep shared.
Other honorable mentions for killer outfits include actress Zola Nombona who rocked an all black slitted gown from Willet Design Couture. Big Brother Mzansi’s Libo Njomba came through for the men in a custom David Tlale suit from his Veteran Pursuit Collection. And last but not least, Londie London’s gown was everything.
The Real Housewives of Lagos premieres on the 11th of April 2022 exclusively on the South African streaming platform, Showmax.
