Bonang and her Nigerian BFF, Toke Makinwa served goals on the timeline this week when they committed to buying each other gifts for Christmas. Meanwhile, the rest of us are counting the days until payday.
People like Bonang and Toke don’t have to send themselves emergency eWallets to get through the month of January; these big budget boss ladies plan Christmas a little differently to the average citizen.
So, while many of us might have been expecting modest gifts like Takealot vouchers (I won’t say no!), Toke had her sights set on something a little pricier.
Messika is a premium French jewellery brand, and if you’re looking for a bangle from one of their stores in France, the lowest you can expect to pay is R26 848 (1650 Euros), while the most expensive pieces can be as much as 10 times that price. Santa Claus might have a reputation for giving well behaved people what they deserve for Christmas, but even he must have thought this was a tall order.
Luckily for Mr Claus, Bonang was on hand to save the day. She volunteered to buy the Messika bangle for her bestie as long as she could get a little gift of her own in return.
When people pointed out the price of the cheapest item, asking Bonang if she knew what she was getting herself into, she calmly reminded us that she shops different.
Meanwhile, Toke made light work of Bonang’s request and moved straight to choosing colours.
Imagine having a friendship on this kind of level?
