Anele Mdoda is back in the spotlight after reports surfaced that a former domestic worker brought her to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), arguing she was unfairly dismissed.
Case filed by former employee
Reports say Thuleleni Florence Mlalazi, who previously worked for Mdoda, lodged a dispute after alleging unfair treatment connected to both her dismissal and a vehicle arrangement during her time in the role.
The matter was later resolved, with Mdoda agreeing to pay R90,000.
How the settlement was structured
It has been alleged that the agreement was reached in August 2025, with an initial payment of R20,000 made upfront.
Under the reported terms, the remaining amount was set to be paid in instalments.
What led to the dismissal dispute
According to reports, the breakdown between the two parties began with a series of disagreements.
- Mlalazi claimed she was dismissed after she did not fetch Mdoda’s child from a soccer event on her day off, though she later said she went to collect the child.
- She also raised issues tied to a car arrangement. Mlalazi alleged that she had originally owned a vehicle prior to working for Mdoda, but was later persuaded to swap it for another car.
- She claimed monthly deductions were then taken from her salary as part of the deal.
- Mlalazi further alleged the vehicle was later changed again and registered under Mdoda’s name without her consent, which she said sparked additional conflict.
Involvement alleged, and Mdoda’s response
Reports have also claimed that Bonelela Buzza James, Mdoda’s husband, played a role in the decision to dismiss Mlalazi.
Even after the CCMA outcome, Mdoda has reportedly disputed the allegations, saying her former employee engaged in misconduct. The claims attributed to her include allegations of theft, extortion, and threats.
Mdoda maintains that the dismissal was justified.
