Dangote Refinery on Wednesday pushed back against claims that it had increased fuel prices, saying its petrol rates have not changed. The 650,000 barrels-per-day complex issued the clarification in a statement posted on its X account, disputing a report that suggested the $20 billion facility had raised the price by N75 to N1,350 per liter.
According to the refinery, its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pricing remains the same, with its ex-depot rate unchanged. “Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has revealed that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains the same, stating that its ex-depot price remains unchanged,” the company said.
Market commentary has pointed to ongoing volatility in pump prices, citing movement in international crude costs. Crude was reported at $95 and at N101 per barrel on Wednesday, a shift that has continued to feed into local pricing dynamics.
Over the past two months, retail petrol prices have risen sharply, nearly doubling to a range of N1,365 to N1,375 per liter, from roughly N900 per liter in early February 2026.
