Femi Azeez has spoken candidly about what comes next after making a major statement for Nigeria, following a breakthrough campaign in England’s Championship that helped drive further interest in his future.
The winger, who will turn 25 next month, scored twice for the Super Eagles on his debut and played a key role in getting the team to the final of the 2026 Unity Cup in London. His impact for Nigeria has intensified speculation about where his career goes from here.
That buzz has been matched by club-level pursuit. Ipswich Town, who edged past Millwall to secure an automatic promotion spot to the Premier League, have already made multiple offers for the player, with each one being rejected.
What Ipswich’s bids have looked like
- Ipswich Town moved to sign Azeez after his performances, but Millwall turned down several approaches.
- The most recent proposal came in at £20 million, which was rejected.
- Millwall are reportedly looking for £30 million, leaving the sides some distance apart on valuation.
Azeez on chasing the next step
Azeez described his 2024-25 Championship season as a platform and emphasized that international football was the next challenge he wanted to embrace. He said: “I had a good season in the Championship and obviously, to do it on the international stage as well was just that next step up.”
He added that he never feels settled after reaching targets: “Whenever I achieve something, I’m always hungry for more. I’m never satisfied with what I’ve got.”
Continuing, the forward insisted he is determined to keep rising: “I’m always going to work towards that next level because I’m ambitious as a footballer and as a person, and I want to reach as high of a level as possible.”
Azeez also pointed to the Premier League as his ultimate aim: “The Premier League is obviously the pinnacle of football. I’d love to play in the Premier League. So obviously, working hard, I’m going to do whatever I can to get there.”
Millwall spell and the numbers behind it
Azeez joined Millwall from Reading in August 2024 for a fee of around £1 million. During his time with the club, he produced 11 goals and eight assists across 35 appearances, form that has now put him at the centre of a high-profile transfer conversation.
