In the reel, Sodlaka spoke about her love for communication and her belief in the wider social impact it can create. She described the series as a vision she has been nurturing for years, slowly moving from idea to reality.
She also explained that she has long wanted to “speak life to the African man,” but wrestled with whether she had the right platform and voice to do it. Now, she says, reaching 40 has made the timing feel even more meaningful—like the work has finally met its moment.
“One of my favourite things to do is to communicate about what matters to me and to the life I see around me,” she said, adding that she hopes the discussions spread widely. Sodlaka specifically pointed to schools, taxis, and spaces connected to the boy child as places where these rehabilitative conversations can become normalized.
Sodlaka described the launch as both deeply emotional and symbolic. She said the first shoot brought home the idea that there is room for dialogue that supports healing, builds accountability, and encourages emotional growth for men across African communities.
Alongside the announcement, she posted a caption that framed the series as more than content—calling it a movement she hopes to grow. She wrote that the project has taken time, with the goal of driving forward rehabilitation for the boy child, as well as for “uncles, grandfather, and dads.”
She added that she believes the momentum will continue to move “in our Lifetime.”
