Mzansi's controversial radio host Phat Joe is in hot water again with the public broadcaster. According to Daily Sun,  Joe was pulled off air for not reporting for duty. The radio host  is no stranger to being suspended or booted off  radio .

In 2019, he hogged headlines after adding his two cents comment on a raging  debate over homophobic comments made by reality TV star Zodwa Wabantu. Zodwa said  Gay people are troublesome at times and they are convinced that they have vaginas.

Phat Joe weighed in on that debate and asked why gay men would not accept how hard it is "for most people to accept their lifestyle". These remarks landed him in hot water with the LGBTQI community and the station which saw him being suspended until further notice, but he was later brought back on air.

Phat Joe is the co-host of the much loved breakfast show on the Phat Joe and The Family on Radio 2000 he hosts the show with the bubbly and energetic Nala Tose. According to the publication the SABC spokesperson said Joe is currently on leave but could not divulge more details out of respect .

An insider to told the publication that the DJ was granted leave after his draining festive season working hours, but he apparently did not report for duty as per their agreement in January.

The source claims that Joe decided to stay for few more days at home dodging his work. This apparently frustrated the station manager, Chris Choane who has always wanted him to shine since he brought him back on the SABC after being fired.

Another source said, Phat Joe is not worried about his suspension because listeners love him. The source said "The SABC is gearing up for a shake-up of SABC radio hosts’ contracts and no one knows who will survive and who won’t,” .

Apparently Choane has had enough of him and will not support him when the public broadcaster renews  contracts . Fans have since been concerned about his whereabouts since he went off air.
