“When I reflect on my years at YFM, I truly had an organic growth within the YFM umbrella and for me, that’s genuinely one thing I loved about the space because every year I could point out my growth and work on my weaknesses.” Said the talented broadcaster. “I Joined daytime radio at 23 years old hosting lunch, moved to drive at 25-year- old. Those are some amazing achievements that I got to tick off my wish-list within my twenties. A few accolades that came with it and passport stamps. Timeless memories.”
DJ Sabby joined YFM in April of 2010 through the Y academy. He was offered a trainee slot and traffic reporter position.
Chatting about where he would head to next, Sabby had the following to say: “I am so excited and nervous at the same time. The butterflies in my stomach are louder at this moment and that’s the feeling that keeps me going because once it goes off - I’d be scared. I am excited to meet new people, a new team to rep, introduce myself to new listeners and grow in spaces that I am not familiar with at the moment, but most importantly to engage in new ideas with a different approach to my current template.”
The station’s MD, Haseena Cassim wished him success in his future endeavors.
“I have had the honor of working with DJ Sabby for nine of his 10 years at YFM. Sabby epitomizes professionalism and commitment. We will miss his charming and charismatic nature at the station. We wish him every success.”
DJ and radio personality Sabelo Mtshali whose popularly known as DJ Sabby has joined the SABC’s Metro Fm. This comes after his exit at YFM early last month. Sabby had been with the youth radio for a decade at the time of his exit.

Weeks later DJ Sabby announced that he was joining Metro FM.
“What’s next, is all that matters. Officially part of the @metrofmsa family.”

According to the media statement released by the station, Sabby bagged the Metro FM Top40 Chart Show between 09:00-13:00.

“Metro FM is proud to announce its line-up for the 2021-22 financial radio year. With the changes experienced in the industry and radio broadcasting environment within the past twelve months, the station has worked to consistently be relevant and engage its audience on different platforms through its on-air personalities, ” the statement read.
