Journalist and media personality Gabi Mbele is a force to be reckoned with. With all that she has managed to accomplish throughout her career, there is no doubt that she is a rock star. But even rock stars get tired and overwhelmed sometimes, and now Gabi has opened up on how she struggles with single parenting.
The journalist recently took to her Instagram stories to share her experience as a single mother. While the pictures and stories about bonding with the kid may be super cute, Gabi wants us to know that it’s not always rainbows and butterflies, and that it gets tough sometimes, doing it all alone.

“Yonk’into ibheke wena, be it a broken light, a flat tyre, neHomework… noma ungagula kanjani its you and only you…” she wrote. She went on to share a list of stuff she needed to help her child with, including an Afrikaans speech and a History presentation, and she realised that it would all fall on her shoulders to assist as she has to do it on her own. Even so, she expressed gratitude for her neighbour who has been present and helped her through the journey.

One of the things she listed as making it extra difficult to be everything for her child all the time, is that she has been dealing with some health issues of late. Taking to Twitter, she recently wrote that she has multiple body issues, which she found out after going to hospital for her annual health checkup. She likened her body to an old, worn down vehicle that is in need of several spare part replacements, and sis, we relate.
Ever went for a annual check up and found out you’re a skorokoro that needs several parts? 🤦🏽♀️

Gabi is not the only celebrity who has opened up on struggling with motherhood of late. Fellow media personality K Naomi also recently spoke up about her motherhood journey. She said that as a first time mother, it was one of the hardest journeys she has ever taken in her life.
She said that she has had days so difficult that she has either cried along with her daughter, or gone off to cry on her own. She suggested that mothers need at least one uplifting moment a week, no matter how small, because the journey can really get them messed up and overwhelmed otherwise.
Even so, she still believes that it is the most beautiful journey of her life, and wouldn’t give it up for the world. Luckily for her, she has a solid support system that has come in handy, and she is very grateful for all of them.
